Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know should be in our FAQs below - if you cant see what you're looking for, drop us an email - hello@orbitprint.co.uk
-
Absolutely not! Bottles are incredibly popular, especially in todays more environmentally conscious world. However, we can print a variety of different substrates and welcome all rotary print application requirements. For industrial applications please contact our parent company Fine Cut Group.
-
Our parent company Fine Cut Group have an impressive laser suite and can laser mark a wide range of substrates as well as industrial applications. Visit the website for more information.
-
The substrate is attached to a bespoke fitting tool, it enters the print chamber whilst spinning and is printed via the print heads from above. The substrate then exits the print chamber still spinning whilst curing the ink with UV light.
-
This all depends on the substrate and its life cycle. All substrates are different and will require some form of pre-treatment to ensure the best adhesion and longevity of the print. We advise a flame treatment and have a range of primers to assist with adhesion which are built in to our standard price structure. We suggest any coated bottles are tested prior to any full production runs so we can achieve the best quality print and longevity.
-
Most insulated bottles are hand wash only – but we recommend hand washing anything digitally printed as this will prolong the life of the print. Avoid handling printed areas regularly with anything alcohol based as this could eventually eat into the ink and soften it over time.
See our Longevity Guidelines on washing instructions for different substrates direct from our ink manufacturers.
-
During the print process the substrate spins pretty fast and to ensure an accurate print, a precise bespoke fitting tool is needed for every new substrate we print. This ensures the substrate is held perfectly in place with no wobbles or slips, providing a perfect print every time.
If we do not have tooling to fit a new substrate, a once only tooling charge will be added to the cost of an order.
-
Personalisation does not apply to changing the entire design per substrate, it only applies to an aspect of the design, such as the addition of a name for example. We require you to supply us with a spreadsheet of your required names, number or information for each variant. Additional artwork and handling charges apply for personalised substrates.
-
Our print machine runs at its best on long production runs. However, we are perfectly happy to print small quantities – we start our pricing at 50 off, for anything less, just ask for pricing. We can even do one offs and samples but these do incur a minimum order charge.
-
This all depends on the quantity of your order, whether your substrate requires new tooling and whether you are supplying them. Usually we advise a 2 week turnaround time from proof approval, but please ask at time of enquiry, we can usually work to deadlines and event dates.
-
We require ‘vector’ artwork for every print, this is because the file type produces a much better print quality, including colour accuracy as well as the need to use the ‘vector’ to create white and varnish print layers from.
What is a vector? This type of file is created in design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, the artwork is made up of lines and shapes and can be manipulated and resized without loss of detail. Unlike a bitmap image – a jpeg / png for example, these types of files are flat images which cannot be altered, they will lose detail and become pixelated if size or resolution are altered.
Need help? Our full artwork guidelines can be found here or drop us an email to discuss.
-
See our print parameters within the “Work with Us” page for details on what our machine can not print, this includes the likes of handles and extreme tapers as well as details on min/max sizes.
Like most digital inks, ours do not stick to silicone or soft touch coated products, and we advise contacting us with anything that is coated prior to placing an order as all coatings are different.

We will ship your order to any desired address, UK or Worldwide – please make us aware of the shipping address at time of quotation. UK Shipping is usually next day, but we don’t tend to ship on a Friday as this means boxes sitting in depots for the entire weekend.
